The legendary, Grammy Award–winning Latvian Radio Choir returns to Basel after many years – one of Europe’s outstanding choirs, renowned for its incomparable sound culture and precision.
The concert is dedicated to nature and the sounds of our planet. And what could be more fitting than the mysterious and masterful a cappella tradition of Latvia?
Under the direction of Sigvards Kļava, the world-famous choir performs new works by Žibuoklė Martinaitytė alongside compositions by Veljo Tormis, Arvo Pärt, Pēteris Vasks, Anders Hillborg, Knut Nystedt and Mārtiņš Viļums – music about seas, forests, myths and what it means to be human in the soundscape of nature.
For this evening, the Pauluskirche Basel becomes a cathedral of nature – a unique, otherworldly sound experience.
